Woods

Maple has been a favorite of American furniture makers since early Colonial days. It has excellent resistance to abrasion and indentation and takes stain well. Maple is a dense hardwood characterized by mild color tone and grain variations, and is uniform in color. If you plan on painting your furniture, and do not want an open grain to show through, Maple is a great choice.

Red Oak was a favorite of early English craftsmen and a prized material for American Colonists. It is very strong, hard and has great wear-resistance. With its reddish hue, Red Oak is known for its strength and stability. The open grain ranges from straight to arch shaped patterns. Red Oak color tones will vary slightly and are most noticeable in a natural finish.

Mouldings

See our Deluxe Crown and Base page for a fresh new twist on the Federal and Face Frame styles.

Deluxe Crown & Base

Deluxe Federal Crown & Deluxe Face Frame Crown

Enhance our Federal Crown or Face Frame Crown styles by adding a 3/4” piece of decorative moulding to the top of the crown moulding. The overall height of the piece is increased by 3/4”.

Deluxe Federal Base & Deluxe Face Frame Base

Base moulding also gets the Deluxe treatment. We can wrap the base moulding in our Federal/Federal Crown and Face Frame/Face Frame Crown styles. The Deluxe Base for our Federal/ Federal Crown styles eliminates the plinth blocks, but enhances the overall look.

To achieve the “Built-In” look, our Deluxe Crown and Base have the following options: flush cuts,

inside miters, mini miters, etc.
